The Poppy Factory & Light Lunch

The Poppy Factory began in 1922, offering veterans with mental and physical health conditions a place of employment producing Remembrance products for The Royal British Legion and the Royal Family. The factory is based in Richmond upon Thames and currently makes in excess of 5 million poppies, 130,000 wreaths and almost one million crosses and symbols. See how veterans still make Royal and regimental wreaths by hand today. You will even get the chance to make your very own poppy. We will have a light lunch at midday with our tour starting a 1pm.

Carpeted with over 35, 000 tulips, creating stunning scenes for us all to enjoy. One hundred and eight varieties of tulip are planted in colour themed garden ‘rooms’. Follow the winding paths down to the woodland, where the Bluebell Walk is often in flower around the same time as the tulips. Pashley Manor is on the border of Sussex and Kent.

Magnolias towering 40 feet high, Camellias in groves, footpaths winding through hills carpeted in bluebells, many hundreds of Rhododendrons and beautiful displays of Azaleas. Dependant on the Spring we have is what you will see. Home to wildlife including foxes, rabbits, grey squirrels, badgers, weasels, stoats, shrews, voles, and our now famous wallabies. The estate is home to over 100 free roaming deer.

Orwell Lady River Cruise With Afternoon Tea

Cruise from Ipswich’s Orwell Quay all the way to the Historic Harwich Harbour, the Pilgrim Fathers departure point on the Mayflower and Samuel Pepys’ parliamentary seat. See HMS Ganges at Shotley and the UK’s largest container port at Felixstowe, before our return journey. Approx 3.5 hours A generous traditional treat of sandwiches, cakes and scones, all homemade, served with tea and coffee, buffet-style. There is a bar on board.


Leaving Stanway at 11.50am, Braintree 12.10pm & Halstead 12.30pm. Orwell Lady, departs at 2pm arriving back at the Quay at approx. 5.30pm. We will depart soon after.
